ADVANCED AI

CYBERWAR XXI - Joint Theater Commander (CW XXI-JTC) is intended to exploit the ability of the advanced AI engine developed by Hexagon Interactive Inc. for AFOSR. This AI simulates the behavior and decision-making process of individuals (commanders) and populations (military units) under conditions of stress.

In addition to the conventional "material" aspect of warfare, CW XXI-JTC emphasizes the "soft" human factors. The advanced AI used in CW XXI-JTC can show political maneuvering within each faction's power structure and other more complex functions. The AI framework is modular and designed to adapt to unforeseen developments and with limited or untrusted information, and also in ways that can represent differing cultures, personalities, and doctrines.

In addition, the computer-generated After Action Reports (AAR) provide an invaluable tool to evaluate and understand not only what competing planners decided to do, but also why they acted in the way they did, and what effect (predictable and unpredictable) their actions may have had at a particular time and place, and why.

For CW XXI-JTC, the AI was further developed to work with the features added in this edition of the simulation, such as the new insurgency-level units and actions.

Hexagon Interactive is also exploring other commercial applications. For example, the AI engine could help predict investors' behavior in response to market change; help a corporation plan a novel marketing campaign; or help emergency services better plan for crises.
